Evan Lewis , Sculptor
American, b. 1948

Evan Lewis addresses the machine culture that steel and other traditional materials imply. His first assemblages were full of whimsical surprises, unexpected joining that - remarkably - worked. As Lewis moved into public commissions, his work held onto the whimsy, the unexpected relationship. His parts literally move, but are themselves curvilinear and wrought with illusions of movement.
